For a company and its brand to be established, there is a process they must undergo through. While some businesses are naturally discovered by customers and stakeholders, it is unlikely the case for prosperity to be seen. Getting the product or service you are advocating is not enough for the goals of the company to meet and be achieved which is why media coverage is helping hand in the business industry.
Media coverage is a significant part of a company’s process to public recognition. It allows you to reach a wider audience, specifically your target audience. This causes an increase in brand exposure and attracts potential customers to be aware and have them be interested in the business you are marketing.
There are actually different types of media coverage a company puts into process:
Paid Media
This type of media coverage is any paid advertising such as commercials, billboards, and even advertisements on Google and Youtube. This is commonly seen on the internet given that the general public consumes digital media daily, which is an advantage for businesses that are trying to reach a wider target audience.
Paid media is a wise strategy done by companies since they are able to reach the platforms of the public through advertisements with just a simple scroll and click from them. This strategy is also done through reaching out to individuals with a wide range of followers such as influencers and coming to a paid agreement of having your product or services promoted on their platform for their audience to see, which can allure them into possible clients of the brand.
Earned Media
While paying for exposure is one common thing done in the business industry, there are also ways for your brand to be known and that is through public relations. PR is a known technique for communicating information about the company to the media and the public; it is essential for a business to progress.
PR brings your brand to your key audiences and contributes to brand exposure through press releases, interviews, and news conferences. It helps you build high quality relationships with clients and stakeholders and connect with other businesses that share the same goals as your company.
Public relations also involve event planning where public and private events are conducted in order to give brand experience to customers, interested non-customers, and business partners while unraveling to them the advocacies of the company; an opportunity is then given for media attention and brand recognition.
Owned Media
For a brand’s target audience to become fully aware of a company they are interested in investing in, or consume their product or avail their services, owned media is an approach they can use. Creating your own business website, blogs, and channel initiates an easier way for customers to reach your brand.
Having a business platform benefits the company in a way that the public can be in touch with your brand and be able to keep up with updates on newly launched products or services and can even serve as a source of feedback and reviews from customers and allied organizations, as well as showcase those you are in sponsorships with.
Shared Media
The world has become dependent on social media given that it is a flexible use of technology for communication, resources, news, entertainment, and many more. It is undeniable that it plays an important part in the business industry as its platforms are consumed by a large percentage of users across the globe.
Shared media is the content about your brand and company posted on social media. This includes mainstream apps such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. Pages, channels, and accounts on social media put up by a company serve as a way to communicate with the public, the media, and their key audiences better and with ease.
The algorithm and perks of social media such as likes, comments, and shares also contribute to the rising reputation of a brand and its product or services, helping them extend their image to other potential customers and partners.
While it is true that there are other marketing channels and strategies existing that do not need media, it is undeniable how big of an influence media coverage is to the public and other communities. With the media by arm’s reach of businesses, they are given an opportunity to rise and prosper in the industry.
